Mr Nitesh Patel was born in London. He graduated from Manchester University in 1994 where he was awarded MBChB degree with honours for his outstanding overall performance attaining honours in six undergraduate subjects. His Basic surgical training was completed in various London hospitals leading to Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in England FRCS(Eng) in 1999.
He completed his Higher Surgical Training in ENT Surgery and was awarded the Gold Medal by the Royal Society of Medicine for 1st Rank in the National (UK) Intercollegiate examination in ENT Surgery with award of FRCS(ORL-HNS) in 2005.
He has been granted Certificate of Completion of Training by the Postgraduate Medical Education Training Board (UK) and currently holds substantive NHS consultant posts at Whipps Cross University and Newham University hospitals in London.
His other awards and achievements include the North Thames London Deanery award for design of the North Thames Otolaryngology trainees’ website, JLO Travelling Fellowship awarded by the Journal of Laryngology and Otology to visit the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, and active member for voluntary service group which was awarded Queens Golden Jubilee award for voluntary groups in the community.
His specialist interests include Ear problems, Hearing and balance disorders, Meniere’s disease, Eustachian tube problems (after flights or hyperbaric oxygen treatment), Blocked nose and Sinusitis, Children’s ENT disorders, and Voice problems.
He has a keen interest in teaching and regularly teaches and examines both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is a Faculty member and invited speaker for several courses held at Whipps Cross University Hospital, St. Thomas’ hospital, King’s College Medical School and the Royal College of General Practitioner’s. He has contributed as Faculty member for the Royal College of Surgeons in England’s eSTEP programme. He is a registered assessor of trainee surgeons with Healthcare Assessment and Training (HcAT) as well as supervises surgical trainees through the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum project.
